Commitment to Service
Winston Churchill famously said, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
Community service has a long and honored tradition in the history of our nation, a tradition that’s been at the heart of American civic culture since our country was founded.
Focused on Community
Whether through town hall meetings, professional service clubs, local school boards, political parties, or hospital auxiliaries, Americans have felt and acted on the need to give something back to their communities.
And that’s how we, as members of the Grand Rapids Lions Club whose motto is “We Serve,” feel also. Because we benefit individually from the opportunities and resources provided by our community we, in turn, feel a strong responsibility to repay those opportunities and blessings with service to the needs of others.
